Bohemian Rhapsody

I had high hopes for this movie. I am a true fan of queen and I even remember my family in New York blasting the beloved band's songs during backyard parties where me and my cousins would lip-sync to the songs in our bathing suits by the pool. I started to research the band before watching the movie. As much as i loved the songs. I didn't know a lot of information about how the came to be. This movie was made with the intention of show casing the band's lead singer the late Freddy Mercury. The movie did accomplish this but with a major flaw they portrayed Freddy as extremely flamboyant but what made Freddy so attractive to women was that he had a masculine persona. Also his relationship with the band was much different. In real life they were all treated as equals. They were all like brothers. This movie has a lot of fatal flaws to fans of the band. Freddy's relationships were nothing like we saw in the movie. His relationships are key to showing the true Freddy Mercury. The band was said to have a lot of input on this movie. Brian May worked alongside the filmmakers to assure an accurate portrayal of the band's lead singer. But when it came to the screening and seeing the film come together. A lot of fans saw that Brian's input was not taken at all. A lot of controversy has come up about the film in regards to Rami Malek winning best actor for the film. I think Rami is an amazing actor in other roles. I think if I knew nothing about Freddy his (Rami Malek) performance was great. He clearly was connected to the character and seemed to do his research but his interpretation of the lead singer was just not right for fans. Fans also had an issue with Freddy's teeth being too pronounced but i honestly had a view contrary to that. I thought the costuming in this movie was amazing. You can clearly see the real people within theses actor. Perticulary in the band, the young actors look almost as if they time travled. If i had no backround knowledge of the band or Freddy. The movie was filled with talented actors but when you make a movie like this. That the target audience is fans of the band you have to make sure to have an accurate story because these fans are loyal. This means they already know the story they just want it to come to life correctly and with honor.
