January 2019 MWOM
Starting 2019 with interviewing candidates for movie watcher of the month and I think this candidate is relatable, funny and a pretty decent person.
MWOM IS...…..Khalil Abdul-Rahim!!!! Me and Khalil met in an acting class along with a lot of my other friends. I will not lie my first impression of him was that he didn't want to be in the acting class. He simply wanted the credit but I was quick to judge (I am working on that in 2019. I promise!) "I got into acting because of my love for movies and the emotions and stories they’re able to convey and tell". I can see Khalil's passion for acting through everything we do in class. Something as simple as reading "The Rope" in class he finds a way to show off his skills. The best way to describe him would be someone who always tries his best to be a good friend, student, and now actor. Khalil wants to achieve big objectives in movies ": I would like to see more movies that are not afraid to take risk and don’t mind touching on subjects dealing with different cultures and topics that aren’t touched on much". I do believe movies now a days try not offend any type of people. But with that comes bland movies. You have to take risks in films. You have to show people the real cruel world or a world that is no where near the real world. So viewers can either face reality or escape it. "There are a ton of different movies and they all can teach you different things". Khalil believes this is the best part of movies because they help people understand. That's why it is important that we as actors and directors must represent all people and situations. So the people watching may learn and be able to place themselves in the characters situations. Other than watching Movies he enjoys to box, hang out with friends, and be productive. He is constantly encouraging his friends to achieve their dreams. I wish him the best in the coming years and keep working hard!
