Love, Simon
I watched this movie on the plane back home from New York and i have to say it was worth the wait. This movie was already not your typical teen romance movie. I decided before i review this movie i wanted to do some research. Gay and transgender media advocacy group GLAAD said in its annual Studio Responsibility Index that of the 109 releases by the seven largest movie studios in 2017, just 14, or 12.8 percent, included LGBTQ characters. That is just in general if we were to be specific and say only leads the percent would lower. In good news, movies like tennis film “Battle of the Sexes,” Oscar best picture winner “The Shape of Water” and independent transgender tale “A Fantastic Woman” are paving the road for major films to have LGBTQ lead. Love, Simon has a very young cast even the film's lead is young compared to other actors on the screen. Nick Robinson is 23 years old and he is honestly my generation's Leonardo DiCaprio. He is a very fluid actor and plays every character with such a passion and his costar Katherine Langford has the same amount of talent. Seeing her play a fun happy teen was amazing because after 13 reasons why you wonder to yourself if she will always play dramatic roles. I can't wait to see if they make the next two books into movies! cross your fingers!
