My Directing Experience!

So this website is not only to write reviews but to have discussions about movies and how they are made. A major part of movies is directing. I did not get the chance to direct a movie but i was given the opportunity to direct a show. If you don't know me personally you may not know that i am Christian and i love my church very much! So one day i was watching a show and they were doing a talent show. So i started thinking about how much fun that would be to do. Well i went to the youth pastor and said how much fun it would be to have one at the church. He said "yeah well you should direct it". I happily agreed to direct it. Then it began, I was given a theme (Dreams Are Born) and started to work. I found an amazing tech crew and Co host that really helped me through out the planning process. I also found an amazing stage manger that would really help get the word out there. I started by finding people to sign up to preform. At first it was very difficult. I would try to get people excited about preforming in front of there peers but no one seemed to bite. It wasn't until one brave person signed up and the rest followed. Then i focused on the set list. For those who are unaware of what a set list is it is a list with the show in order and the amount of time each acts take along with the names of song etc. If you are the type of person who needs an exact definition here you are "a list of the songs in time frames that a band or singer intends to perform at a particular concert". this was the toughest part because set list can change at any point. We had to change ours at least five times or more. But i have to say as much as it was stressful it was so much more rewarding to see everything come into place. When you see everything you had in your mind come to life. It's amazing! My favorite part was definitely hosting the show. We had a lip sync battle and i got pied in the face. TWICE! It was a very good experience and if given the experience again i would take it! It taught me teamwork and how to control my anxiety. Working with the right people makes it easier but it teaches us to work with different people who might not be easy to work with. but they can change you to be better. I can't wait for the next show to direct and for anyone who id currently directing. Don't stress and Break a leg!
